Vanity Gallows is a quirky styling company based in Bristol and London. The founder Kat Stroak, originally started out specialising in vintage inspired hairstyling and after a successful year styling for private publications and in the niche nostalgia market, moved into re-purposing materials to create costumes.
“I met and worked with a performance troupe that combined traditional circus skills with immersive theatre. Inspired by the circus and it’s unorthodox performers I started designing elaborate hair pieces from fake hair and recycled materials, this progressed into costumes made from reclaimed textiles. I have always been passionate about recycling and to be personally responsible for my impact on my surroundings. Having always lived in cities I see a lot of waste and felt I could do something beautiful with the excess. I love a good Womble.” – Kat
